Zozibini Tunzi began her pageantry career in 2017, when she was accepted as one of the Top 26 semifinalists of MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2017, although she was not selected as one of the twelve finalists. She returned to pageantry to complete in the MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2019 compitition.
She was selected to continue as one of the 35 semifinalists after being confirmed as one on 26 June 2019. After auditions, Tunzi was announced as one of the sixteen finalists on 11 July.
After selected as one of the finalist, Tunzi went on the complete in the MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2019 competition in Pretoria on 9 Augest. She progressed through the stages of the final, advancing to the Top 10, then top five, and finally top two.
Until she was crowned the winner by her predecessor TAMARYN GREEN, besting runner up Sashar Lee Olivier.
Then Tunzi recieved prizes including 1 Million, a new car and fully furnished apartment in the Sandton neighborhood of Johannesburg, which is value of R5 million, to use through out her reign. The achievement allowed Tunzi to represent South Africa at the MISS UNIVERSE 2019 compitition.

On December 8, 2019 Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe in Atlanta. Throughout the contest, Tunzi provided firm answers which helped her win over the audience and judges.
At the conclusion of the pageant, Tunzi was crowded MISS UNIVERSE 2019 by outgoing titleholder Catriona Gray of the philippines.
